Golf is an interesting game. Some folks love it and there are several that I personally know that find it as thrilling as watching paint dry. But if you have ever played the game, you perhaps have a deeper appreciation than those that just watch.
Golf may be the most formidable of most games. Why? Aren’t players merely hitting a little white ball with a big fat club, and the ball is—unlike in baseball— sitting still right in front of you? Well, yes, but that’s much easier said than done. It is not as simple as just hitting the ball. You see, with golf, you are alone and you play against yourself. You are both the offense and the defense. If you think too much, you’re likely to hit the ball into the water or the woods. If you think too little, you may swing and miss altogether. It’s a mental chess match, and you are the one in control of both sides, completely on your own.
Our walk in life with Jesus could be described in the same way. Far too
often we are our own worst enemies. Many of us struggle with
things like worry, fear, acceptance, and doubt. We become so overwhelmed with our own personal ‘stuff’ that we lose sight of Jesus and following Him the way that His Holy Word describes. But what if you had help? What if you didn’t have to journey on this walk in life alone?
Well, the scriptures tell us that we don’t. You see the Holy Spirit has been given to us as our helper to walk through life with Jesus.
The Bible tells us:
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you (John 14:26 NKJV).
We are not asked to walk this life on our own. If you are a Believer, then the Holy Spirit has been given to you in your heart to help you walk through life. You are no longer competing alone….against others or your own fleshly self, rather the Holy Spirit is there to lead and guide you through EVERY moment of your life.
I encourage you as we begin this last month of summer to re-center your life and ambitions on your walk with God. Put Him first in all that you do. Spend time with Him and His word and remember that you are a chosen child of the King!
Remember, Jesus Loves You and So Do I!!
