“Give thanks unto the Lord, for His love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story, those He redeemed from the hand of the foe.”

Psalm 107:1-2 (NIV)

What’s your Thanksgiving Story?

As Thanksgiving comes around each year, we are reminded of the story of that first Thanksgiving here in America as the Plymouth Pilgrims gave thanks to God for helping them through a difficult winter, where nearly half of their population died. We tell the story of a bountiful feast the pilgrims had with the members of the Wampanoag tribe, who not only provided the food for the feast, but also the teachings of agriculture and hunting (corn, beans, wild rice, and turkey are some specific examples of foods introduced by Native Americans).

That story of thanksgiving never fails to inspire me. But there are other more personal stories of thanksgiving that each of us need to be telling. The verse above tells us, “Let the redeemed tell their story.” If your life has been redeemed and set free by Christ, you need to be prepared to share your Thanksgiving Story of what Christ has done for you.

You see, your Thanksgiving Story is not only a form of worship to God, but it is also a witness to those who have yet to be redeemed and set free from their sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. Let the redeemed give thanks and tell their story. Let the redeemed share what Jesus has done in their own lives that others may come to know the Lord and share in His grace as well.

As you sit around the Thanksgiving table this month, perhaps this year, take time to tell your Thanksgiving Story! Not only of the Blessings that God bestows upon you every day, but perhaps this year, also take the time to tell of your GREATEST Blessing:  How Jesus Christ has set you free from the bondage of sin and has given you eternal life!  What an amazing BLESSING we all have in Jesus.  Certainly, we should give THANKS with every breath that we have!!

Speaking of thanks… I want to thank everyone for your expressions of appreciation this past month and the wonderful gift the Church shared with Kelly and me.  We both love Saluda Baptist Church and give thanks to the Lord for Him leading us here to Pastor Saluda Baptist Church.  We love you and are honored to be a part of this AMAZING church family!

Remember, Jesus Loves You and So Do We!!
