GPS

Can you believe it is May already this year?  As I get older in life it seems that the months just fly by!!  But, it is May, and that certainly points to the upcoming months of summer and the summer months, well they point to vacation for many.

Do you have plans to go, to travel, to see different sights and enjoy some time away?  Well if you do, and if you are going someplace different, my guess is that you will use a GPS of some sort.  Whether it’s on your phone or a stand-alone device, GPS’s allow us to know that we are headed in the right direction.  It shows us the right roads, the right paths, the right direction to follow to get to our final destination.

If you do use a GPS, you probably know that they don’t really like it if you stop for gas or food…. or even take a detour.  Truthfully, GPS systems do not like it if you stray off course.  In fact, most of them will voice their opinion, sometimes seemingly shouting out, “Off course, return to the highlighted route, make a U-turn at the next opportunity!”

Did you know that we have a GPS for our lives?  Well, we do…Its called the Bible, God’s Holy Word!  And if we are not careful, in our daily walk, we too, can sometimes get off course.

The Apostle Paul instructs us to keep us on track with the Lord:

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

                                                                  (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV)

As a child of God, we are to seek the things that are above. Our eyes and heart need to be focused on Christ and we can accomplish this by reading His Holy Word, the Bible.  Having a steadfast attention and focus keeps us from losing sight of those things with eternal value.  And just like following the GPS commands, when we keep seeking and stay set on the things above, we can know that we will arrive at the final destination of our life.

So today, take the time to seek the things that are above and set your mind on the things of God. Pursue and focus on the things of the Lord and He will bless you and keep you with His words!

Remember, Jesus loves you and so do I!
