SERVE

The word family is derived from the latin word famulus – which means servant.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are part of God’s family and commanded to love one another as much as we love ourselves.

MISSIONS
  • Saluda Baptist Church is a “mission minded” church.  We believe that through helping and serving others, we can show them the love of Jesus.
  • “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10
CHRIST CENTRAL

Christ Central Ministries serves the Saluda community as a beacon of hope through prayerful action and determined response, yielding to the plans of The Lord for the poor, needy, broken, and rejected.

BACKPACK MINISTRY

Saluda Baptist Church, in partnership with the local school district, helps to provide children in need, with backpacks packed with food for the weekend to ensure their physical nourishment while at home.  This is not only provided during the school year, but also during the summer months.

MISSION SERVE

Mission Serve partners with local city governments to assist in the rehabilitation of sub-standard housing. We believe in being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ and sharing His love through missions and home rehab. Mission Serve is a life-changing mission experience, and we encourage you to join us for one of our projects. Students must have completed the 6th grade to attend.

NICARAGUA

Luke 10:2   The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Saluda Baptist Church has served in Nicaragua with Chosen Children Ministries since 2004. Annual short-term mission teams share God’s love and the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people there through:

  • door-to-door evangelism
  • providing food bags
  • drilling wells to provide safe drinking water
  • planting churches
  • evangelizing and providing discipleship to children and adults
  • training pastors in CCM’s Bible Institute,
  • building homes
  • having sports camps for teenagers
  • providing medical and dental clinics
  • giving Bibles and New Testaments to all who need them
  • supporting the Yellow Bag project, which provides the necessary items for a child to attend school
  • holding Vacation Bible School, worship services and men’s and ladies’ Bible studies.

SHEPHERDS HANDS

West Virginia has some of the poorest counties in the United States, mainly because of high unemployment and the modernization and closing of coal mines.  Unfortunately, there are not many employment opportunities, therefore they are not able to help one another or themselves. God has called The Shepherd’s Hands ministry to help these people both physically and spiritually.  Saluda Baptist Church has partnered with this Shepherd’s Hands to help provide support in this impoverished area in the United States.

COLLEGE OUTREACH

We are very proud of our college aged students at Saluda Baptist Church.  To help support them, we have a dedicated Sunday School class for those able to attend, but also have a ministry focused upon encouraging those away from home attending school.  If you or someone you care for is a college-aged student and would like us to include them in our ministry, please contact the Church Office.
